August 27th Quilt Celebrations!

I think we are a pretty prolific group!  Three celebrations on Tuesday night, and a bonus in getting to see Barb's beading friend Sharon's beautiful beading "tapestries."

And we also talked quite a bit about the Quilt Show.  It's shaping up to be pretty spectacular, in my opinion.

Okay, so here are the celebrations and the beading...............

I made this quilt from a Ghanian textile
given to me several years ago by Julie Voetberg.
It is for my daughter-in-law's brother and his wife for a wedding gift.
They have both spent time in Africa, he in Mozambique for quite a few years.
It seemed the best home for this piece.
I hardly feel as if I've made a quilt!
I bordered the textile and then Barb took it from there.
Thank you, Barb!  The quilting made the piece.

Here are Sharon and her beautiful beading pieces.........
Thanks, Barb, for inviting her, and Sharon, thanks for coming
and sharing these lovely pieces with us.  It was a treat.

Then Jessie celebrated this darling rainbow baby blanket
which she made for a Care Center client.
It has no batting and is flannel-backed,
so it's perfect for a "dragging around" blanket.
She mitered the corners and added a
"flange" around the 9-patch center.
Very fun, Jessie. Nice work! :-)

And Marla shared her 3 "Littles."
9-patch on-point and Stars on-point
in beautiful Civil War reproduction fabrics,
and then the Susan Branch fabric
"out of your box" piece is just so cute.
Beautifully done, Marla.

Happy Quilting!!

August 20th Quilt Celebrations!

There have been so many beautiful quilts celebrated in the past few weeks.  Tonight was no exception!

Rachelle brought her darling "Pink and Grey" to share.
It's just beautiful.  Lovely work, Rachelle.

Connie brought her applique-on-black-"Out of the Box"-beauty.
So stunning. Beautiful, beautiful work, Connie.

Two of her favorite blocks:

Theresa was back tonight after traveling, and she brought her
"Pink and Green" quilt made for her friend
who is going through chemo for breast cancer.
Love what you did with this, Theresa.

Thanks for sharing, ladies!
Happy Quilting to You!!

Lots of Blue Ribbons at the Fair!!

Well, I have to say that In-Stitches made a good showing at the Fair.  What fun!

I went and took pictures of everything I could find that was entered by any of us in the Home Arts Division.  I've not shown every piece that every person entered, but there is a good sampling here.

First of all, Ruth Decker took Best of Class and Grand Champion!
Congratulations, Ruth!

Of Marylu's and Mary Ann's Downton Abbey Doll Clothing,
this one took Best of Class and Reserve Champion!
Congratulations to you both!!

And every one of the others got a blue ribbon!

Susy got "Living Arts Person" again this year.
Congratulations, Susy!!!

Here is a sampling of her work.

Congratulations, Beckie!

I entered my Broken Dishes quilt, and it got a blue ribbon.
That's always fun!

Here's the Yard Bird's quilt, for which the maker came for inspiration
to one of our Tuesday evening gatherings.  It was fun to see it there!

And this is one I just really liked!
Janet Lucas made it.  I don't know her, but I like her work!

And last, I just wanted to show you
Jessie's blue ribbon in the Senior Art Division.
She took First Place with this watercolor portrait of Maggie.

So, what think you??
I think we did ourselves proud!
Beautiful work, ladies!!

My sincere apologies if I missed anyone!!

August 13th Quilt Celebrations!

Tonight we had two projects to celebrate.  June brought her lovely table topper and Allison Eacker, Shirley's granddaughter, brought her first quilt project.

June says this was a fun project made entirely from her stash.
Beautiful work, as usual, June!

Allison lives in Saudi Arabia, and has been here for several weeks visiting.  She started this project on another visit and has had input from both her grandmas.  The fabric came from Hawaii and she's pieced it into this sweet "something".  She's not quite sure what she'll do with it, but she has it bound and is now quilting it.  Way to go, Allison!

Here are "Grandma June" and Allison with their projects,
with Grandma Shirley and Marla looking on.

And here's a close-up of both of their projects.

Watch for another post with exciting pictures from the Fair!!!
(Probably on Sunday or Monday.)

August 6th Quilt Celebrations!

We had another mini quilt show on Tuesday night.  Such fun!

First, Joyce shared her "Lil' Blokes" quilt, the pattern for which came from Australia.  A major undertaking and beautifully executed.  I took a close-up of some of the kids.  As Joyce mentioned, the hair was a tedious thing, but it looks so great!

Then we had the pleasure of meeting Josephine,  Geralyn's daughter's Au Pair, who came with Geralyn to gather some inspiration, and also to enjoy the celebration of her quilt and that of the previous Au Pair.  Both are beautiful.

Geralyn added pictures of Josephine and the children
on the back, along with the label.  Very cool.

And Susy shared her "little" with us.  So cute!

Nice work, ladies!!
