A Significant Birthday and 2 Jakob's Quilts!

Well, I'd say the surprise actually worked!
What a fun evening celebrating Carolann's birthday!
I just have a few pictures from the evening, so here they are.

Connie and Mary Ann made this darling American Girls
nightgown for Carolann.  It's something she's wanted for a long time.
Being that Mary Ann is one of the American Girl Queens,
(Marylu not able to be there on Tuesday)
this is a fitting gift, don't you think??!

Here's the three of them.  Notice Mary Ann's skirt on the floor?
Reminiscent of an event that Carolann experienced awhile back. ;-)

And here's the dessert table.
Russian Cream and Chocolate Mousse Cake!

And Rachelle brought two Jakob's quilts to celebrate.
One a little smaller than the other, unplanned, but fine!
Beautiful colors, Rachelle.

What a lovely evening all around!

Fair Winners!

I went to the Fair last night and was able to photograph all (I hope) of the quilt entries from our prolific group!  We had a good showing, ladies!  And there is nothing less than a blue ribbon among us!

So, to start, Connie took Grand Champion with her
"Affairs of the Heart" which I understand is now headed to Puyallup!
So very exciting!  Congratulations, Connie!!

And one of her Jo's Little Women Club took a blue ribbon, as well.

Barb got a Best of Class and Champion
for her beaded lady.  WooHoo!
Congratulations, Barb!

And a Best of Class for her Piece and Plenty Quilt.
I love this one!
Way to go, Barb!!

Barb and Susy entered blocks in the challenge
which will be made into the raffle quilt for next  year.
Aren't they just the cutest??

* * * * * * * * * * *
Susy got a Best of Class for her Butterfly Quilt.
Such a sweet one.  Congratulations, Susy!!

* * * * * * * * * * *
Maggie got blue ribbons for both of her entries,
though I took the picture from the wrong side
of her game quilt.  Congratulations Maggie!!

* * * * * * * * * * *
Though Dorothy Weckman is not part of our group,
since she was one of our featured quilters at our
most recent quilt show, I though I'd include hers, as well.
She got the People's Choice Award on one of the days.
Congratulations, Dorothy!!

* * * * * * * * * * *
Sharon Hatch had four entries.  All got blue ribbons,
and the first one has a purple ribbon, but I didn't note
which one it is.  I'll find out and correct this entry.
Congratulations, Sharon!!

* * * * * * * * * * *
Diana got blue ribbons on both of her entries,
the one she made for her husband, and the wedding ring.
Congratulations, Diana!!

* * * * * * * * * * *
Beckie's took a blue ribbon and the People's Choice award,
AND, though I took this picture before the third ribbon was awarded,
she also received the award for the most votes during
the week for People's Choice!!  Isn't that fantastic?!
Congratulations, Beckie!!

* * * * * * * * * * *
And finally, both Barb and Susy have blocks in this year's
Raffle Quilt, shown here behind Maggie, Jen and Dale.
I think Maggie is up for some sort of award for selling
the most raffle tickets.  She sang to potential purchasers,
and many of them stopped and obliged!
The proceeds from the Raffle Quilts go to
purchase prizes for the winners of each class.

Well done, ladies!!  I love the community aspect of the Fair.
Thank you all for entering and contributing!

Happy Quilting!!

Quilt Celebrations for August 12th!

We had two celebrations last Tuesday.

Ruth brought her first applique project, which also served as a decoy
for her work on her daughter's quilt while Kristin was away at school.
It's such a cheerful piece!

Nicely done, Ruth!

Then Sharon brought this medallion sampler.
The outer areas are machine-quilted by her husband
and the medallion is hand-quilted by Barb.
There are a couple of close-ups, too.

Beautiful, Sharon!

Happy Quilting!

Quilt Celebrations from July 29th and August 5th!

I am so behind it here!!

On the 29th, both Joann and June brought quilts to share.

Here are Joann's Baskets made from
half-Dresden Plates and filled with yoyo's!

....and a little bee!

Aren't they fun?  Yo-yo's are so versatile!

Beautiful work, Joann.

And here is June's lovely quilt made from a kit.
It's "Abalone Cove" from Keepsake Quilting.

Isn't it just stunning?

Then on the 5th, Rachelle brought two to share.

This scrappy one is so classic.

And this she made from the leftovers from her
Little Girls in Pink and Gray.  You can see it here.
The pattern is "Whirl-a-Jig" from Connecting Threads,
but made without their pattern!
I really like this one.

Beautiful work, ladies!

Happy Quilting!
