January 20th Quilt Celebrations!

On the 20th, we had a few quilts to celebrate.

First, Theresa shared another of her family quilts

made from blocks found in her husband's grandmother's home.

She used wonderful border fabrics to tie the piece together.

I brought a couple of small quilts I made for my grandchildren

as they go through a new season in their lives.

The first is for my grandson, the second for my granddaughter.

I made each top using two charm packs

and about a yard of border fabric.

And then I shared the antique quilt that Jessie got me for Christmas!

Shirley Taylor dates it between 1840 & 1860.

Such a find!  The pattern seems to be a

glorified 4 patch/snowball combination.

January 13th Quilt Celebrations!

Rachelle and Carolann brought quilts to show on the 13th.

Rachelle celebrated two small quilts that she machine quilted for practice.

This one is made from the scraps of fabric that were used to wave

"Goodbye" at the Sound of Music Sing-Along in Seattle.

She gathered up those she could find

and made a little remembrance quilt for a great-niece.

So cute!

And this is one on which she practiced her feathers.  Just beautiful!

Carolann celebrated a quilt that Lois Stoltenberg pieced

and she hand quilted.

I don't know the pattern name, but it's a good one.

January 6th Quilt Celebrations

On the 6th, we had a couple of real treats.

First Joan showed hers, an invertible tree design.  It's awesome!

Like Grandma, like granddaughter!

"As some of you may have heard, I got a sewing machine for Christmas."

She made this darling pillow with her new machine.

She is such a joy to have at quilting!

Connie brought her WWI top to show.

She got all the blocks together while in Jackson

and was able to use her mom's sewing machine to do the job.

A special addition to the process.

December 16th Quilt Celebrations!

On Tuesday evening, we had a fun show-and-tell.

First, Susy showed the darling knight outfits she made for her grandsons.

Then Geralyn shared a quilt she has helped with over a period of time. Sister Valerie did the machine embroidery.  Geralyn used her expertise to help straighten out some difficulties that surfaced over the construction time.  There's minky on the back and the big lettering is ultra-suede.

Shirley brought a project she's had going for a long time.  Isn't it striking?  She doesn't remember the name of the pattern, but it reminds me of Carpenter's Square.  Such a great use of two colors!

This is a quilt I put together for a friend of mine using a Thimbleberries kit that her mom, Carmen, purchased in 2009 or so.  Carmen passed away this year and my friend wanted to have the quilt completed.  Barb did the quilting and nailed it, again!  Beautiful work, Barb!

Christmas Party

November 25th and December 2nd Quilt Celebrations!

Last week we had three quilts to celebrate.

First, Theresa shared a hexi quilt she made for Linus.
It's so cheerful!

Theresa, thank you for all you do to keep Linus running and to continue the flow of blessing to the children who are in need of love and encouragement.

Diana shared a sweet baby quilt.  She said when she started it, the couple wasn't going to find out the gender of their baby, so she went with colors that could go either way.  Then the couple decided to "peek" and they are having a girl!  There is no doubt either boy or girl will spend lots of time looking at these wonderful colors and interesting shapes.

Speedy Carolann is the first to complete a quilt using the blocks from our four-patch exchange.  It's fitting since she was the first to get all her blocks done.  300 in one night!

Isn't it charming?  No mess, no fuss, just fun lights and darks that sparkle.  The Baptist Fan quilting is fun, too.

This week, Sharon brought her Winding Ways quilt done in brown and tan.  It is so striking.  She did the piecing and Bill did the quilting.

November 18th Baby and Quilt Celebrations!

Wow!  What an evening!

First we celebrated the arrival of Jericho Konrad Peterson, who was born on September 23 to Kersten and David Peterson. The group of us contributed blocks for a string quilt in '30's reproduction fabrics.  We presented it to Kersten last night, and got to meet Jericho, too!  Thanks for bringing him, Kersten and David!

Marylu brought a quilt for which she bought the top.  She has wanted a Snail's Trail quilt and thought this was a good way to get one!

Joyce has been really busy!  Not only has she worked on the three quilts for her sons-in-law, she has made this amazing airplane quilt for one grandson and is doing a second one for another grandson!

Theresa brought her 50th birthday quilt to show.  Isn't is just amazing?  She told us about the challenges of getting multiple-sized blocks to work in one quilt top.  She has done a fabulous job!

Barb brought two really fun ones.  First, her pumpkin quilt.  The colors are so good.

And she brought her "tiny" nine-patch.  Each tiny square is 1/2", and each block is 1 1/2".  Such splendid detail.

Then Jessie shared two of her recently finished quilts.  The first is the fourth and last quilt made for Edna Fund's grandchildren.  Made with a combination of batiks and quilter's cottons, she found it challenging using different weight cloth.  I think the result is rather nice though!  The dolphin is wonderful and the quilting Barb did is splendid again!

The second is a baby quilt for her cousin's 2nd baby, and sports a lamb in the middle.
